Welcome to iSLAS – Where Culture Meets Cuisine
iSLAS means “islands,” representing the 7,641 islands of the Philippines—a country rich in culture, diversity, and bold culinary traditions. At iSLAS, we celebrate the vibrant flavours of Filipino cuisine, shaped by centuries of Austronesian, Chinese, Spanish, American, and indigenous influences.
Filipino food is all about harmony—sweet, sour, salty, and sometimes spicy—often centered around rice, vinegar-based dishes like Adobo, and shared family meals. Whether eaten with spoon and fork or the traditional kamayan (hands), dining in Filipino culture is a joyful, communal experience.
Founded by husband and wife duo Chef Marc and Mariel Buenaventura, iSLAS brings authentic Filipino flavours and hospitality to Toronto. Inspired by childhood meals, family gatherings, and travels to the Philippines, Chef Marc crafts dishes that honor tradition while celebrating the depth of Filipino ingredients. Mariel brings her passion for hospitality and vision for introducing Filipino culture to North America, creating a warm and welcoming dining experience.
At iSLAS, we invite you to explore, experience, and enjoy the rich culinary heritage of the Philippines—one unforgettable bite at a time.
